Understanding Key & Current Aspects of Minnesota’s Mental Health Legislative Process | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to learn more about what programs are offered. Sue Abderholden, Executive Director at NAMI Minnesota will also discuss the legislative process and what key bills are being introduced that impact our community.

 

This Grand Rounds training is approved for 1 CE hour. Attendees must attend the full training to receive CE.

Level of programming is introductory: assumes general minimal with the topic.

 

The CARE Grand Rounds is intended to help attendees:

  • Name NAMI resources available for clients
  • Describe aspects of the legislative process
  • Discuss key current bills that impact Minnesota’s MH community

 
The presentation is designated for psychologists and mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students.

About the Presenter: 

Sue Abderholden, MHP, has served as executive director of NAMI Minnesota, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, for the past 20 years. For over 30 years, she has been visioning, initiating, inspiring and guiding changes in policy, strategy and a continuum of services that resulted in significant improvements for persons with disabilities, students receiving special education, and children and adults with mental health conditions in Minnesota. She is a consistent and valuable voice for changes in public policies, creation of educational opportunities, and sparking support networks, helping to transform public attitudes and perceptions about people with mental illnesses. Sue serves as a preceptor for students taking Legislative Advocacy Skills for Public Health, and uses her knowledge and background to give students insight into policy making and changes, and to help them develop the skills necessary to operate in the area of public health practice. *The speaker has indicated no conflict of interest and there was no commercial support for this training.

CARE Counseling is board-approved to sponsor continuing education. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license. 

To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
