Supervision Training: Module Two | 4 CE Credits

Clinicians will learn about elements of the supervision role, supervisory responsibilities and dynamics, role development, as well as aspects of clinical and administrative supervision. Clinicians can choose to attend one, two, three, or four sessions in this training series. Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour and obtain a passing post test score to receive CE credit(s).   

Level of programming is introductory: assumes minimal familiarity with the topic.   

This training is designed to help attendees: 

First Hour  

Define the 4 elements of the supervision role   

Describe how elements are applied/combined in effective supervision   

Second Hour   

Identify supervisors’ ethical, legal, and gatekeeping responsibilities    

List current skills required for effective delivery of marriage and family & individual therapy  

Describe the inherent role of power within supervision  

Third Hour  

Describe supervisor role shifts across supervisee development    

Define meta competence and its importance in supervision 

Fourth Hour 

List key differences in administrative and clinical supervision       

List key overlap in administrative and clinical supervision 

The presentation is designated for CARE Counseling independently licensed mental health professionals (LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW).  

CARE Counseling Supervision Training is approved by the MN Boards of Psychology, Behavioral Health & Therapy, Marriage & Family Therapy  and  Social Work for 50 CE hours for LP’s, LPCC’s, LMFT’s & LICSW’s 

CARE Counseling is also approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

About the Presenter:  

Meg Spires, MSW, LICSW, is a social worker, psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and is currently the Associate Director of Training at CARE Counseling. She has over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, supervision, and training, previously through the Minnesota Cystic Fibrosis Center, the University of Minnesota-Boynton Mental Health Clinic, and the Autism Society of Minnesota. As a psychotherapist, she specializes in supporting members of the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as those experiencing chronic illness, grief, or trauma. She has provided individual and group supervision to trainees, pre-independently licensed and licensed professionals, and developed and coordinated training programs for clinical trainees and emerging supervisors
