Teens & Mental Health Virtual Info Session

CARE Counseling has partnered with Newport Healthcare to raise awareness around adolescent mental health. Dr. Heidi Bausch Ryan, psychologist and Clinical Director of Training at CARE Counseling, along with Ryan Fedoroff, M.Ed, VP of Learning & Development at Newport Healthcare, will speak on key signs of mental health concerns in high school students and how to talk with teens about seeking help, as well as provide helpful tools for supporting teens struggling with mental health. During the info session, Ryan Federoff & Dr. Heidi will also share about how to connect teens with mental health services and explain the process of finding care, scheduling services, and what the first few encounters may entail.

The presentation is designated for psychologists and mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students.

About the Presenters:  

Heidi Bausch-Ryan, Psy.D., LP, is a licensed psychologist and the Clinical Director of Training at CARE Counseling. For the past eight years, Dr. Bausch-Ryan has gained clinical training and professional experience on adolescent inpatient behavioral health units, at adolescent and young adult residential substance use treatment centers, and within outpatient mental health clinics. She has conducted research as well as delivered professional training and presentations on topics such as adolescent mental health, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, co-occurring concerns, substance use and recovery pathways, whole-being wellness, and resiliency. 

Ryan Fedoroff brings more than 15 years of academic leadership and classroom experience to her role at Newport Academy. As an educator, she is passionate about working with high-risk adolescents and is trained in restorative practices. Ryan has also worked with the Marin County (California) Youth Court and is a member of various community organizations working to combat youth substance abuse. In her current role and in her previous role as Newport’s National Director of Education, Ryan works alongside clinicians to create interventions to assist students dealing with anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. She also collaborates with special education teams to create protocols for managing classroom challenges for students dealing with auditory processing and executive functioning deficits.
