Grand Rounds : Eating Disorders in Outpatient Mental Health Settings | 1.5 CE Credits

CARE Counseling has partnered with Heather Gallivan, PsyD, LP, Clinical Director at Melrose Center – Health Partners Park Nicollet, to present this training on important aspects for providers to be aware of regarding eating disorders in outpatient therapy settings.  In addition to reviewing signs and symptoms of eating disorders, Dr. Gallivan will share about cultural factors to consider when working with eating concerns as well as interventions CARE clinicians can use in out-patient practice. Dr. Gallivan will also speak on what to look for in terms of when to refer to a higher level of care and how to coordinate care throughout this process.

 This Grand Rounds is designed to help participants: 

  • Recognize warning signs and symptoms of Eds 
  • Discuss Eds in LGBTQ and BIPOC communities 
  • Discuss presentation in outpatient setting 
  • Review referral and treatment options 
  • Discuss basic interventions for eating disorders 

The presentation is designated for CARE Counseling mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students.

CARE Counseling is approved by the Board of Psychology to sponsor continuing education. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Heather Gallivan is the Clinical Director at Melrose Center – Health Partners Park Nicollet. Before joining Melrose Center, she served five years in the United States Navy as an active duty psychologist. For over a decade, Dr. Gallivan has specialized in treating those who have weight and eating problems. She is passionate about preventing eating disorders through education and training.

Eating Disorders in Outpatient Mental Health Settings | 1.5 CE Credit

 This continuing education activity is approved by the MN Board of Psychology (LPC/LPCC) for one and a half (1.5) credit hours. Clinicians will need to attend the full session to receive CE. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.  

To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
