PILT Training: Therapy Modality Exploration | 3 CE Credits

Clinicians will learn about humanistic, relational, multicultural, behavioral, and new wave therapeutic approaches to use in their work with clients. CARE Counseling is board-approved to sponsor continuing education. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour to receive CE credit(s).  Clinicians can choose to attend one, two, or three sessions in this training series.

CARE Psychotherapy Training Videos are intended solely for educational purposes for mental health professionals. Viewers are expected to treat confidential material found herein according to professional guidelines. Unauthorized viewing is prohibited. 

Level of programming is introductory: assumes minimal familiarity with the topic. 

This training is designed to help attendees:  

First Hour 

  • Identify one+ way theory guides your work with clients 
  • Describe two+ key aspects about person-centered, gestalt, existential, interpersonal & psychodynamic theoretical approaches  
  • Apply one+ new way to use these approaches in your work with clients 

Second Hour 

  • Identify one+ way theory guides your work with clients​ 
  • Describe two+ key aspects about narrative, multicultural, feminist, and integrative & psychodynamic theoretical approaches ​ 
  • Apply one+ new way to use these approaches in your work with clients

Third Hour 

  • Identify one+ way theory guides your work with clients 
  • Describe two+ key aspects about CBT, DBT, ACT, SFT & EFT theoretical approaches  
  • Apply one+ new way to use these approaches in your work with clients

The presentation is designated for CARE Counseling mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students. 

CARE Counseling is approved by the MN Board of Psychology to sponsor continuing education. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.

About the Presenters:

Heidi Bausch-Ryan, Psy.D., LP, psychologist and the Clinical Director of Training & Development at CARE Counseling. For the past seven years, Dr. Bausch-Ryan has gained clinical training and professional experience as a generalist practitioner: on inpatient behavioral health units, at an outpatient mental health practice, in a university department of psychiatry, and at a residential substance use treatment center. She has delivered professional training presentations on topic such as modalities of therapy, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, co-occurring concerns, recovery pathways, and resiliency 
Hannah Dufek, MS, LADC, LPCC. mental health practitioner and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist at CARE Counseling. Prior to working in outpatient mental health, Hannah worked in higher education as a career and academic advisor and participated in leading panels and discussions regarding DEI initiatives at the university. She has additional professional experience working at an intensive residential treatment facility as well as community mental health work supporting refugees and immigrants. Hannah has studied the experiences of marginalized groups in therapy and has training in assessing and treating substance use and recovery in individual and group settings.

Therapy Modality Exploration

CARE Counseling is board-approved to sponsor continuing education. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license. 

Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour to receive CE credit(s) and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  Clinicians can choose to attend one, two, or three sessions in this training series. CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
