Empowering Recovery and Wellbeing for All | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation for a Grand Rounds training on empowering recovery for all. Helene Photias, MHA, Executive Director of the Children's Program at HBFF and Cecelia Jayme, MA, MBA, LADC, Director of Clinical Services at HBFF, share on how substance use addiction and recovery shows up in the family for all members and ways of navigating within our clinical work.  

CARE Psychotherapy Training Videos are intended solely for educational purposes for mental health professionals. Viewers are expected to treat confidential material found herein according to professional guidelines. Unauthorized viewing is prohibited. 

 Level of programming is intermediate: assumes general familiarity with the topic. 

This Grand Rounds is designed to help participants: 

  • Identify reasons why people use substances.
  • Describe how to treat Substance Use Disorders within a family system
  • Define ways of moving through the process of recovery for individuals
  •  Name components of recovery for young children and families in early recovery 

The presentation is designated for CARE Counseling mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students.  

CARE Counseling is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

About the Presenters: 

Helene Photias, MHA, is the Executive Director, Children’s Program for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, where she has worked with young children and their loved ones for 15 years. She is an advocate for strengthening the family unit by building understanding and resiliency for each family member. She is a Certified Positive Discipline Parenting Educator and has served as a mentor for the Ophelia Project and guest speaker for Cigna, DEC, IDAA, and the Ohio Opioid and Other Drug Conference. Helene holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from CSU of San Bernardino and a Masters in Health Administration from Regis University, CO. 

Cecelia Jayme is Clinical Director at Hazelden in Center City, MN. She started with Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation (HBFF) 27 years ago as an intern through the L.C.O. Tribal College and has worked as a counselor, a Supervisor of the Women’s Recovery Units and was a key member in designing the Simmons and Simpson buildings on the Center City Campus to create the Women’s Recovery Center (now The Betty Ford Women’s Recovery Center) when it opened in 2007. She has advanced opportunities for addictions treatment through developing and expanding both men’s and women’s campus based day treatment programs on Center City campus. Cecelia worked closely with key stakeholders in creating HBFF’s Professionals program. Cecelia is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and holds a Master’s Degree in Humanities with an emphasis on spirituality and a MBA. She has a strong interest in ethical practices and was awarded the Bernie Belling Ethics Award by MARRCH for dedication and commitment to the field.

CARE Counseling is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.  

To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
