Fostering Resilient Therapist Characteristics: A Developmental Approach | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with Sarah Cronin, PhD, LP, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the College of Individual and Community Health at Bemidji State University to provide an overview on ways of fostering resilience. Dr. Cronin (she/they) most recently published research on the characteristics of therapist resilience. As a part-time practitioner and full-time educator, Dr. Cronin seeks to use their research results to benefit therapists in applied settings. This Grand Rounds program will provide opportunity to learn, reflect, and decide actions needed to foster resilient therapist characteristics, with special consideration of current phase of counselor development.

Level of programming is introductory: assumes minimal familiarity with the topic. 

This Grand Rounds is designed to help participants: 

  • Describe resilient practitioner research from throughout the world
  • Analyze how one's current stage of counselor development relates to their current resilience
  • Identify action steps to continue pursuing resilience as practitioners 

The presentation is designated for CARE Counseling mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students

About the Presenter: 

Sarah Cronin, PhD, LP (she/they) is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Bemidji State University. Having published in journals such as Journal of Prevention and Health Promotion, Sarah is passionate about publishing research with implications that benefit communities and helping professionals. A graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology (CSPP) program, she works to integrate her lens as a scientist-practitioner into all professional settings.

CARE Counseling is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.  

To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
