CARE Counseling has partnered with PRIDE Institute to provide an overview on the impact of adverse childhood experiences and minority stress with LGBTQ+ identified individuals . Joining us will be Todd Connaughty, MA, LPCC, LADC, the Director of Clinical Services at PRIDE, who will speak specifically to how ACES and minority stressors intersect with co-occurring disorders. The presentation will include a review data on minority stress as it applies to the intersectionality of identities of LGBTQ+ individuals as well as discuss the higher prevalence of substance use and mental health concerns in the community.

About the Presenter:
Pride Institute's Chief Executive Officer, Todd Connaughty, MA, LPCC, LADC, has been with the Pride organization for 10 years. He has written programming specific to the LGBTQ community including our sexual health program, which we are known for. In addition to being a leader in LGBTQ care Todd is a member of the LGBTQ community, which gives him a unique perspective and he presents at local organizations and conferences on this topic. Additionally, Todd earned MARRCH's (Minnesota Association for Recovery Resources and Chemical Health) clinical supervisor of the year award in 2021. *The speaker has indicated one conflict of interest of working at a facility that provides services to this population, however, there was no commercial support for this training.
CARE Counseling is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.
To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted). CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
