Pediatric Anxiety and Chronic Pain. It’s not all in your head! | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with South Lake Pediatrics to provide a Grand Rounds training on pediatric anxiety and chronic pain. JoAnne Hoffman-Jecha, MD, Pediatrician and Mental Health Services Director, will provide an overview pediatric anxiety and chronic pain and the relationship between the two in approach to treatment. She will also discuss non-pharmacologic approaches to treat anxiety and chronic pain and the similarities between these two approaches.

Level of programming is introductory: assumes minimal familiarity with the topic.

The CARE Grand Rounds is intended to help attendees: 

  • Explore the mind-body interplay in pediatric anxiety and chronic pain. 
  • Discuss non-pharmacologic approaches to treat anxiety and chronic pain and the similarities between the two. 
  • Name pharmacologic strategies for treating anxiety.

The presentation is designated for CARE psychologists and mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students. 

CARE Counseling is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

About the Presenter: 

Dr. Joanne Hoffman-Jecha is a Pediatrician at South Lake Pediatrics (since 1994). Dr.Hoffman-Jecha graduated from St. Olaf College in 1986 and the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1991. Dr. Hoffman-Jecha has a special interest in developmental, behavioral, and mental health and serves as the Director of Mental Health Services at South Lake Pediatrics. Throughout their career, they have worked for the integration of mental and behavioral health into part of the “routine” in pediatric care. Dr. Hoffman-Jecha has a strong belief that physical and mental health cannot and should not be separated. This belief continues to drive forth new initiatives at South Lake Pediatrics and community collaboration. Dr. Hoffman-Jecha is also a member of the Minnetonka Mental Health Advisory and serves on a Quality Committee for Fairview Physician Associates. Dr. Hoffman-Jecha served on the PrairieCare Fund Board providing grants for schools to support youth mental health for 6+ years.

It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.  

To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
