Responding to Disclosures | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with the Sexual Violence Center to provide a Grand Rounds training on responding to disclosures. Claire Flom Staab and Lucia Frias-Wackman will share about counterintuitive behaviors that are commonly displayed with “victims and survivors,” immediate and long term responses found with these individuals, and finally some "do's and don'ts" of responding to disclosure with specific tools to aid us in our practice.

About the Presenter:

Claire Flom Staab (she/her) is the Outreach Advocate at the Sexual Violence Center. Claire started as a volunteer in the fall of 2022, answering calls on the crisis line, and in the fall of 2023, Claire began her current role of providing direct services to victim/survivors (crisis counseling, legal advocacy, medical advocacy), as well as connecting with other community organizations. Claire has engaged with the community by sharing resources and educating various populations on the basics of sexual violence, consent, and how to best support people who disclose the sexual violence they've experienced.

Lucia Frias-Wackman (she/her) is the Volunteer Services Coordinator at the Sexual Violence Center. Lucia is new to the team, and her role is split between providing direct services to victims/survivors (one-on-one peer crisis counseling, legal and medical advocacy, outreach and education) and coordinating the volunteer program--training, connecting and inspiring her community to become sexual assault victim/survivor advocates. Lucia is passionate about utilizing this community as a tool for change, education and action in the field.
