CARE Counseling has partnered with Gerald Schwanke, LMFT at PrairieCare to provide this Grand Rounds training. In the presentation, attendees will gain a brief overview of Emotionally Focused Therapy developed by the late Sue Johnson, be able to define therapeutic disruptions within an attachment framework, more fully understand the reason for the disruption, and observe 5 skills demonstrated by the presenter that clinicians may find supportive when disruptions take place. Research will also be presented to support the presented skills. Attendees with also be given the opportunity to give examples of disruptions that they have experienced with the goal of applying the skills presented in this presentation.

About the Presenter:
Gerald Schwanke, MS, M.Di. LMFT, C-EFFT, C-EFCT, has been working in the field of mental health as a licensed clinician since 2013. Gerald has served in the areas of caring for severely physically and mentally challenged children and adults, in-home children and family services, and outpatient clinic settings working with individuals, families and couples whose relationships have been impacted by depression, anxiety, eating disorders, chronic illnesses, addictions and other issues. Gerald has received training in play therapy, attachment disorders, trauma, sensorimotor psychotherapy and is a certified Emotionally Focused Couple and FamilyTherapist. Gerald has also been a pastorfor over 30 years where he has served as a crisis chaplain in a hospital setting and walked with individuals, families and congregations through various conflicts, challenges and crises.
