Cultural Factors & Intersectionality with Autism Spectrum Disorder | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with Megan Helmen, Psy.D., L.P. to provide an overview on cultural factors and intersectionality with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Megan Helmen, Psy.D., L.P., is a pediatric neuropsychologist at Developmental Discoveries Neuropsychology. She provides pediatric evaluations for autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other developmental concerns. She will share about racial and gender diversity issues to consider when working with autistic individuals.

This Grand Rounds is designed to help participants: 

1. Name racial disparities in assessing and treating autistic individuals.
2. Discuss what research tells us about working with diverse autistic populations.
3. Describe gender identity diversity among autistic individuals. 

The presentation is designated for CARE Counseling mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students.

 About the Presenter: 

Dr. Megan Helmen opened Developmental Discoveries Neuropsychology in 2022. Dr. Helmen became specialized in autism and pediatric neuropsychology during her clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship. After 10+ years of providing evaluations for children, she wanted to make a clinical process into a more meaningful experience for children and families. Her practice incorporates the child and humanizes the evaluation process in order to optimize outcomes.
