ACEs Study Background, Important Findings, & Application | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with NUWAY Alliance for this training on the background and application of the ACEs Study. Ken Roberts is the Chief Clinical Officer for the NUWAY and trained in several trauma-focused modalities for treating PTSD. He will share an overview of adverse childhood experience (ACE) history, review the impact of toxic stress from ACE’s on chronic physical/behavioral health concerns in adulthood and consider how utilizing uniform ACE scoring in the practice setting may better inform individualized whole person treatment strategies and integration of trauma informed care (TIC) practices. This Grand Rounds training is approved for 1 CE hour. Attendees must attend the full training to receive CE.

The CARE Grand Rounds is intended to help attendees:

  • Consider integrated trauma informed care (TIC) principles

The presentation is designated for CARE psychologists and mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students.

About the Presenter: 

Kenneth L. Roberts is the Chief Clinical Officer for the NUWAY non-profit program in Minneapolis, MN. He has worked for over 15 years as a clinician, clinical supervisor, and administrator in various levels of co-occurring care treating substance use and mental health disorders. He is certified in Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for treatment of PTSD. A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a master’s degree in Professional Studies (Co-Occurring Disorders) he serves as an adjunct faculty member to both the University of Minnesota and Metro State University. Mr. Roberts works in his current role synthesizing a R.I.S.E. (Recovery In Supportive Environments) Model of care with community based resources to support improved clinical outcomes in trauma informed care settings. Mr. Roberts is currently a Doctoral candidate (DBH) at the Cummings Graduate Institute (CGI).

CARE Counseling is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.  

To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
