Grand Rounds : Treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with Carloyn Lee, Psy.D., L.P. and Samantha Marre, M.A., from the Center for OCD & Anxiety-Related disorders (COARD) and Gender Affirming Program at the Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute (SLBMI) to provide an overview of treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. They will discuss effective CBT- and ACT-based interventions that can be used to treat OCD, important differences between treating OCD and other mental health disorders, and lesser known subtypes of OCD.

This Grand Rounds is designed to help participants: 

  •  Describe key CBT- and ACT-based interventions used to treat OCD. 
  • Understand and describe how and why elements of treatment in generalist psychotherapy capacities may be contraindicated when working with patients with OCD 
  • Identify and develop a generalized conceptualization and understanding of ways to approach treatment of lesser known OCD subtypes. 

The presentation is designated for CARE Counseling mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students. 

CARE Counseling is approved by the Board of Psychology to sponsor continuing education. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

About the Presenters: 

Carolyn Lee, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist working as the Program Manager of the Center for OCD and Anxiety Related Disorders (COARD), and as a clinician in the Gender Affirming Program at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute (SLBMI). Dr. Lee completed her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of St. Thomas; she completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in COARD at SLBMI, where she received specialized training in the treatment of OCD and anxiety related disorders at the outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care. In addition to OCD and anxiety related disorders, Dr. Lee's clinical interests include mood disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, adjustment, relationship and interpersonal concerns, identity development, and racial and ethnic minority issues. 

Samantha Marre, M.A., is a Postgraduate Fellow with the Center for OCD and Anxiety Related Disorders (COARD) at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute (SLBMI). She earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Science at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2018 and her M.A. in Counseling at Lindenwood University in 2021. Samantha completed her clinical internship at (SLBMI) with COARD’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). She has a special interest in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder while utilizing the following treatment modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Treating OCD | 1 CE Credit

This continuing education activity is approved by the MN Board of Psychology (LPC/LPCC) for one credit hour. Clinicians will need to attend the full session to receive CE. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.  

To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
