Introduction to ERP for OCD | 1.5 CE Credits

CARE Counseling has partnered with Center for Anxiety & Behavior Therapy for a Grand Rounds training on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Dr. Shannon Murphy will provide an overview on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), that is a manualized CBT-based intervention considered a gold standard treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This presentation will provide an introduction to the key principles and interventions in ERP. The phenomenology and assessment of OCD will also be discussed, with particular attention to differential diagnosis. 

CARE Psychotherapy Training Videos are intended solely for educational purposes for mental health professionals. Viewers are expected to treat confidential material found herein according to professional guidelines. Unauthorized viewing is prohibited. 

Level of programming is intermediate: assumes general familiarity with the topic.

This Grand Rounds is designed to help participants: 

1. Summarize the diagnosis of OCD
2. Identify empirically supported tools for the assessment of OCD
3. Discuss considerations related to differential diagnosis of OCD 
4. Describe the treatment rationale and summarize the key components of ERP

The presentation is designated for CARE Counseling mental health professionals (LP, LPC/LPCC, MFT/LMFT, LGSW/LICSW, LADC), pre-licensed mental health practitioners, and students.

About the Presenter: Dr. Shannon Murphy is a licensed clinical psychologist at the Center for Anxiety & Behavior Therapy in Bryn Mawr, PA. She specializes in evidence-based treatments for anxiety-related disorders, including OCD and PTSD. She obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Temple University, which included completing her pre-doctoral internship at VA Boston Healthcare System in the PTSD and Women’s Trauma Recovery clinics. She has also completed clinical training in the Adult Anxiety Clinic of Temple (AACT), under the mentorship of Dr. Richard Heimberg, as well as the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

CARE Counseling is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CARE maintains responsibility for this program and its content. It is the responsibility of each learner to verify that continuing education earned at CARE or elsewhere meets the requirements for their State and individual license.  

To receive 1 CE credit(s): Clinicians will need to attend the full training hour and obtain a passing post test score (max of 3 attempts allotted).  CARE maintains attendance records of all continuing education event attendees for a period of at least three years.
