Eating Disorders in Outpatient Practice: Statics, Diversity, Screening | 1 CE Credit

CARE Counseling has partnered with Dr. Heather Gallivan with Melrose Center for this training on navigating eating disorders in outpatient practice. The prevalence of eating disorders has been on the rise over the last 5 years and impact an increasingly diverse group of individuals. We will review updated statistics, discuss diversity within eating disorders and how eating disorders are often missed in general practice due to ongoing perceptions about who is afflicted by these disorders. We will also discuss the role of general outpatient mental health professionals in the care of individuals with suspected or established eating disorders including screening and assessment and best practice treatments. Finally a review of factors that can impact treatment response, recovery and relapse will be presented.
